the afghan women’s film fund

Since the Taliban came to power in Afghanistan,

millions of women have been subjected to increased violence, torture, and abuse. Women are disenfranchised, banned from schools, and excluded from public spaces in a situation that is getting worse by the day.

You Can Stand Up for Basic Human Rights.

We can tell Afghan women's stories to catalyze political action and we can provide safe houses for those standing up for freedom.  Will you join us?

samira’s story

Samira spends her days trawling the streets of Kabul, capturing stories most are too frightened to tell. At night, she, her husband, and one-year-old son take shelter in a safe house so that she won’t be found by the Taliban.

On Sunday, January 16th, Samira received word that dozens of women were gathering to demand their freedoms. She risked her life to show up with a camera and later learned that many of those in attendance were arrested, brutalized and killed by the Taliban.

Help us share Samira's story with the world.

*Your donation will also be used to hide and protect Samira and others like her in safe houses!
